About Sophia’s Choice / Asian Pop-Up Cinema
Asian Pop-Up Cinema, a semi-annual Asian Film Festival, is the brainchild of Sophia Wong Boccio, founder of Sophia’s Choice, a Chicago-based 501 C (3) not-for-profit incorporated in 2015 with the multi-pronged mission of cultivating an interest in and understanding of Asian cultures via a diverse offering of Asian films; connecting the Asian film industry with local Chicago film professionals, educators, and students; and promoting Chicago as a destination for international visitors.
About The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto)
HKETO Toronto is the official representative of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China in Canada. Since the office's establishment in October 1991, they have been actively fostering closer economic and trade ties between Hong Kong and Canada.
About The Hong Kong International Film Festival Society Limited (HKIFFS)
HKIFFS is a charitable, non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to discovering and promoting creativity in film art and culture. It organizes the annual Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) and the Hong Kong - Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF). Another highlight is the Cine Fan Summer International Film Festival (SummerIFF), held every August. In 2021, HKIFFS restructured its film industry services and set up HKIFF Industry to promote and support non-mainstream film industry development through co-production, festival strategies, and overseas distribution (HKIFF Collection).
About Create Hong Kong (CreateHK)
CreateHK as an office dedicated to promoting the development of creative industries in Hong Kong was set up in June 2009 and is put under the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region from 1 July 2022 onwards. It provides one-stop services and better support to the industries. In driving the development of creative industries, CreateHK focuses on nurturing talents and facilitating start-ups; exploring markets; and promoting Hong Kong as Asia’s creative capital and fostering a creative atmosphere in the community. The office is responsible for the administration and management of funding schemes relating to creative industries, overseeing the infrastructure for promoting design, providing one-stop service for location filming in Hong Kong, for both local and overseas films, and is responsible for the regulatory control of special effects materials for film shooting and theatrical performances.
