This season’s Centerpiece presents the Midwest Premiere of Chen Zhizhong’s GOOD AUTUMN, MOMMY, screening on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at the AMC Newcity 14 starring award-winning actress Shu Qi. Set in a quiet southern cane village, Fong-tai’s family was waiting for the birth of a new family member. The film was honored with the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award at the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival in 2023.

Closing Night sees another Midwest Premiere, WE ARE FAMILY, director Benny Lau’s film about Carlos, the founder of a rent-a-family business navigating personal and professional conflicts, who ultimately discovers a deeper meaning of family and identity at a client’s wedding.  The film’s star, Carlos Chan, will receive the festival’s Bright Star Award and participate in a post-screening discussion alongside director Lau on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 7 p.m. at AMC Newcity 14. "Hong Kong Cinema Showcase" is generously sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in New York.
