A Belgian girl born in Japan, Amélie experiences a life filled with adventures and discoveries. But on her third birthday, a miraculous encounter with chocolate changes everything as she begins to see everything in her world in brand-new ways.
We often wonder how it feels to encounter everything for the first time again. This enchanting adaptation of Amélie Nothomb’s autobiographical novel reminds us how it feels to experience wonder at an age when one can still appreciate them. However, this profound work also shows a child’s perspective of serious adult issues such as war and death.
